There’s nothing we love more than sharing the breathtaking details of the wonderful weddings we see take place here at That Amazing Place. This week we’re looking at the nuptials of Greta and Paul who said I do right here at our Essex wedding venue.
Greta and Paul had been together for 9 years before saying “I Do” however, they had actually met through mutual friends 20 years previous when they dated for just three months.
Here’s the story of their special day and how they turned our wonderful manor house into their own special love nest for that unforgettable day.
The Venue
Greta stumbled upon That Amazing Place by chance as she scoured the Internet and saw that it had an upcoming open day. She said, “As soon as we walked in, we knew it was where we wanted to get married. Angie was just brilliant too. I’m pretty sure we asked a million questions, some twice or even three times as my wedding brain took over. But she was always there to answer each and every one of them.”
When it came to the actual night before their wedding, Greta, the mother of the bride and the bridesmaids and flower girls all stayed at That Amazing Place and Greta, “couldn’t recommend this enough.
Paul and Jane let us have the entire house to ourselves and said to treat it as our own. It was a wonderful start to the weekend.”
Theme and Entertainment
Their big day didn’t have a theme as such; in fact everything changed a month before their wedding when they saw the marquee. The happy couple fell in love with the setting so much that they had to have it for their big day too. Their colour scheme was a very on trend blush pink and rose gold which complemented the marquee beautifully. They were also incredibly lucky to have stunning weather the day they got married which meant the marquee was open, over looking the beautiful lake and extended grounds. The view from the marquee became very much a focal point of the day with guests commenting on how beautiful it was.
With over 20 children in attendance, the day was very family orientated so seeing the children playing on the grass was very much a memory that Greta wouldn’t be forgetting in a hurry, “It was so lovely to see all the children enjoying the grounds whilst the adults were enjoying a few glasses of prosecco.”
For their entertainment, they enjoyed the talents of Piano DJ who they said had everyone up dancing, even out on the terrace thanks to the beautiful weather.
Flowers
Their flowers were taken care of by Sophie Wilson. The bride’s bouquet was made of pale pink roses, pale pink astilbe and white peonies. It was finished off simply yet elegantly hand tied. The three older bridesmaids had the same bouquets however, but a slightly smaller version and the three flower girls had smaller versions still. The colour theme of pinks and rose gold’s continued throughout the marquee. The centrepieces had candelabra arrangements made on a removable ring so the flowers could be taken after the wedding. They were made with the same selection of flowers from the brides bouquet with the top table enjoying seven small glass containers with the same flowers again. They also had a scattering of rose petals around the small glass containers for added effect with two pink blossom trees placed in the gazebo for the ceremony and then moved to the front of the gazebo for the rest of the evening.
Dress
Greta looked a picture of elegance in her beautiful dress from Matchmaker Brides in Brentwood. The dress had a beautiful sweetheart neckline and a stunning illusion lace back. It was also accented with shimmering beads and ivory over light gold.
Catering
Greta and Paul chose the amazing bunch at Premier Crew to do their catering who they said were, “absolutely fantastic. They were always on hand and super helpful throughout the whole day and even the months leading up to it. The food was stunning and we really couldn’t have asked for anything more. The service on the day itself was second to none. When we moved inside for the evening reception, instead of a buffet we chose a wood fire pizza van which went down a storm for everyone too.”
Special Moments
The most memorable moment for Greta was having her brother walk her down the aisle. Her dad passed away 4 years previously, so for Greta, there were mixed emotions but it was a very special moment. Greta also spoke fondly of the moment Paul saw her for the first time and the attention she received on the day, “I was so excited to see Paul and for him to see me. I’m not usually good with all the attention being on me but I loved it all day. My mum wrote me a beautiful card and my girlfriends had put a beautiful photo book together with some really heartfelt messages in it.”
From everyone here at That Amazing Place, we cannot smile enough when we think of the wonderful day we had watching the fabulous couple, Greta and Paul, get married. We wish them all the happiness in the world and hope to see them in the future celebrating their anniversaries. While we’d love to share absolutely every special day here at That Amazing Place, it isn’t always possible. It’s for this reason that we get so excited to share another happy couple’s story when we can and today is no exception with the fabulous Siobhan and Rich. This lovely pair met 13 years ago! While that may have been unlucky for some, for this gorgeous twosome, it marked the year they said, “I do”. Siobhan and Rich met and subsequently fell in love at work thanks to a love/hate relationship between the pair over Excel. After a few mutual meetings to help Siobhan with her Excel errors, they began dating and that as they say, was that. So, let’s take a look at their wonderful day, right here at our countryside wedding venue, That Amazing Place.

The Venue
Siobhan and Rich were looking specifically for a venue that offered flexibility. They wanted a summer fete type vibe and from the moment they entered That Amazing Place, Siobhan says they were met with instant warmth, “the team and grounds were beautiful. We wanted the wedding to feel like a house party where everyone would party and celebrate with us.” When it came to the running of the venue, they appreciated the efforts that our team went to, to help them achieve their dream day, “Nothing was too much trouble. They made the day look effortless when we all knew that it could sometimes be difficult. They made things look like it had just happened.”
Theme and Entertainment
To make their day as perfect as could be, they spent time with our team brainstorming ideas. They appreciated our team’s suggestion that less is sometimes more, which the couple explained was, “very refreshing to hear from a wedding provider.”
With regards to the theme, Siobhan said, “the grounds really spoke for themselves. Music, flowers and food were the key aspects of the wedding. We also had lawn games, which entertained all ages. Rich in particular is very musical and actually worked very closely with Piano DJ, to ensure all of our favourite tracks were on the playlist too.”

Flowers
When it came to the flowers, Violets And Velvet provided an exceptional display. The happy couple worked closely with the florists, giving them a specific brief. Siobhan felt that it was very much a personal team effort. She explained, “We went for an English country theme. We had mini meadows along the aisle, which were stunning. We also had hanging flowers from the gazebo and lush foliage along the register table. Everything was very natural and undone.” They also incorporated herbs and scented flowers to give them the opportunity to think of their wedding whenever they smell the same herbs and flowers in the future. A beautiful detail that we especially loved and one that they continued into the marquee along with bespoke bunting.

Dress
Siobhan’s dress was from a boutique called Matchmakers in Brentwood. It was the first dress she tried on and with her sister and step-mother’s reactions of happy tears, she knew instantly it was the one. The dress, she describes as a princess dress, was complimented by flowers in her hair for a whimsical look along with darker lipstick to look less traditional.

Catering
For their catering, they had the fabulousPremier Crew. They chose exquisite light dishes and described the food as outstanding, “the presentation was beautiful too. There’s nothing worse than being too bloated to drink champagne and dance.” Premier Crew also provided pizzas for the evening’s dining, which they said were extremely well received by all.
From all of us here at That Amazing Place, we can’t thank Siobhan and Rich enough for sharing their amazing day with us. We hope they have a lifetime of happiness and fingers crossed, we hope to see them again for an anniversary stay or two. For more information on our countryside wedding venue, simplycontact us today.
We couldn’t be more excited to tell you the wonderful story of Lewis and Becki and their beautiful day at our Essex wedding venue. This very happy couple wed right here at That Amazing Place not so long ago and with their permission, we’re telling the story of their big day. Becki and Lewis met five years ago after having been introduced at a friend’s birthday party. It was when they met that night they discovered a myriad of connections, from mutual friends to where they’d both grown up. How they’d gone so many years without actually bumping into each other was a conundrum but one they decided to see as fate. They’d finally crossed paths and fallen in love. Here’s their story of love and finally saying, “I do”.

The Venue
Both Becki and Lewis visited That Amazing Place during one of the Wedding Fairs we hold throughout the year. In their own words they, “instantly fell in love with the venue. From the moment we walked in, we knew it was the one. It had such a lovely feel to it and everybody was just so welcoming. Angie was extremely helpful from the moment we met her.” It wasn’t just our beautiful venue that captured their attention, nor just the venue that made their wonderful day as spectacular as it was. Becki explained, “Paul and Jane made us feel like family and nothing was too much trouble. They were more than happy to help whenever we needed them. We loved how relaxed and comfortable it all felt. That Amazing Place felt like a second home. The day itself ran so smoothly, thanks to Angie. She made us feel totally at ease and ensured everything came together just as we’d planned. We were really keen on having a relaxed wedding without the structure and formalities you usually see and thanks to That Amazing Place, it was achieved perfectly.”
Theme and Entertainment
When it came to the theme of their wedding, they wanted something to reflect their “quirky” natures and so avoided anything too traditional. They opted for a 1920’s vintage theme, which saw, “all the boys dressed in tweed suits with feather button holes. The bridal party wore maroon coloured dresses with feather and flower bouquets. We were keen to hold our wedding party in a manor house as opposed to a barn or marquee, as we felt it went well with the theme.” They even borrowed our candelabra’s for the table centerpieces, which were then draped in pearls to really create the 1920’s feel.
When it came to their entertainment, they took the advice of ourselves here at That Amazing Place and went with the incredibly talented Piano DJ. As a surprise for their guests, they hired a saxophone player. They also enjoyed an hour of old school anthems, which saw their entire wedding party hit the dance floor until the very end. Becki said, “we both spent the whole night on the dance floor and loved every second of it.”
Flowers
Their flowers were supplied and arranged by a florist in Norpar Barns, Esta Bocking, The Workroom Florist. Going along with their quirky theme, they chose flowers combined with feathers. The happy couple were incredibly pleased with their floral arrangements and were even pleasantly surprised when Paul, the owner of That Amazing Place (not a lover of flowers himself) actually confessed to loving the arrangement on the staircase, only highlighting the amazing job their florist did.

Dress
Becki chose her dress from a shop called Grace and Lace in Chelmsford. An American designer called Lusan Mandongus designed her dress. It was made of ivory lace and boasted an embellished belt with open back detail. The jeweled belt and headband were additional creations by the boutique and brought Becki’s vision to life.
Catering
The happy couple actually found their caterers at our wedding fair, choosing the famous Magpie Catering. Just as they did with our venue, they knew instantly Magpie was the one. Lewis explained, “They were so accommodating when it came to dietary requirements and adapted dishes to cater to everyone’s needs. The food was outstanding and so many guests commented on how much they enjoyed their meals. Lizzie and her team were all so lovely, we would recommend them to anyone and everyone!”
Special Moments
Any wedding day is special but they’ll always be those extra special moments and for Becki and Lewis, that began with the walk down the aisle. Becki’s most memorable moment started when she walked out of those back doors here at That Amazing Place, “seeing Lewis and all of our family and friends waiting for me.” The couple had hoped for an outdoor wedding so to have the incredible sunshine that we did this past summer was a huge blessing. Marrying under the gazebo was the icing on the cake. For Lewis, his memorable moment was seeing Becki walking towards him as he stood, waiting under the gazebo. When I heard ‘Ho Hey’ start to play, “I couldn’t help but turn around to get a sneak peak of my wife to be. When I saw her I was in awe of how beautiful she looked. The second most memorable moment was probably splitting my trousers on the dance floor!”

It’s that time again, when we get to tell you about another beautiful ceremony right here at That Amazing Place. This time, we’re talking about the nuptials of Reece and Leah in our countryside wedding venue. Leah and Reece had been together for just over nine years before they said ‘I do’. They walked down the aisle as not only lovers, but best friends too. Having met through friends, Leah explained that they “started talking and realised we were both as weird as each other. We can’t pinpoint the moment we fell in love but it happened quite quickly and we’ve spent pretty much every day together since.”
There really is nothing we love more than seeing such a union finally tie the knot, and what a wedding it was…
The Venue
From the moment Leah and Reece walked through our doors at That Amazing Place, they felt at home. Leah explained, “everything about That Amazing Place is beautiful and 100% lives up to its name. It was the first and only place we viewed.” The happy couple particularly appreciated our attention to detail. Much to their appreciation, everything ran smoothly, leaving them with no worries and able to enjoy the day to the full.

Theme and Entertainment
When it came to their theme, they stuck to pinks, nudes and a few sparkles for good measure. They had a twinkle dance floor for the evening along with jars, fairy lights and candles. Leah said, “That Amazing Place and the caterers set up everything for us. It was everything we could have wished for and more. Our twinkle dance floor and magic mirror were supplied by Wow Factor.” They also enjoyed the wonderful Piano DJ playing a fantastic DJ set into the night.
Flowers
Leah and Reece opted for gip in jars on the ends of each seat aisle. They also had peonies, roses and gip for their centerpieces. The top tables were finished off beautifully with an arrangement of roses, calla lilies and tulips. All whites, creams and pinks were used to match the bride and bridesmaids bouquets.
Dress
Leah looked beautiful in a dress from an exquisite boutique in Hertford, Dress In Love. Leah originally saw her dress on Facebook, “we then went to a wedding fair. When I visited Dress In Love, it was the first dress I tried on and I instantly knew I wanted it.”
Catering
Leah and Reece were lucky enough to book the fabulous Magpie Catering for their big day. They explained, “Everything was so delicious. Everyone we spoke to said how much they enjoyed it. The steak and ale pie was out of this world. Lizzie and all of her team were so professional but also so friendly. In fact, we couldn’t recommend That Amazing Place and all of their suppliers enough. They all played a huge part in making our special day so magical.”

If we asked you to name the most memorable wedding of 2018, what would you say? Harry and Megan’s perhaps? Well, here at That Amazing Place, we have a wedding that stole the show. Marrying on the same day as our favourite red headed prince himself, we introduce Nick and Elli Gunn. Nick and Elli had been together 8 years before they got married, after having met through a mutual love of photography and German shorthaired pointers. Here’s their big day at our countryside wedding venue.

The Venue
Choosing a wedding venue for some can feel like a mammoth task. The trips to and from different venues, some miles away and others at the most inconvenient of times – just so you can fit it in. For Nick and Elli however, it was a different story. Nick explained, “being a wedding photographer for the last 8 years means I’ve seen many of the venues in and around Essex but I’d never worked at That Amazing Place. It felt so clean and gave that feeling of being in someone’s home.” Nick and Elli chose to get married in the garden and despite the nuptials of a certain prince and his American princess, stole the show, “Our wedding was the same day as the wedding of Megan and Harry but obviously, our wedding was much better ha ha.”

Theme and Entertainment
In terms of theme and flowers, it was kept very country and very natural. Being a wedding photographer certainly had its benefits and allowed the couple to step away from things they’d seen done time and again, “we wanted to try some things different to what we’d seen on a regular basis. For our flowers we opted for a natural country garden flower with that just picked look.” Nick and Elli also enjoyed our resident DJ along with a pianist who entertained their guests all day long.

The Dress & Suit
The couple both looked nothing short of exquisite on the day thanks to their fabulous sense of style. Elli, Nick’s fellow photographer bride wore a Demetrios dress from a bridal shop in Ongar, Essex while Nick himself opted for made-to-measure country clothing from Butlers Stewart, complemented perfectly by handmade boots by Filli Fabbri, an Italian riding boot manufacturer, very appropriate indeed as the couple also share a love of all things equestrian.

Magical Moments
Nick and Elli’s magical moment came when they both walked across the lawn, down to the lake and gazebo toward the aisle. Nick said, “as we approached the red carpet, I pointed out to Elli that all of our friends and family were there. Then all of a sudden, they all started clapping together.”
From that magical moment, the happiness continued and the beautiful couple became husband and wife. While the pair are both happier behind the camera, rather than in front of it, we think it’s safe to say the photos, taken by the talented Steve Hobart are nothing short of amazing. Here’s to the happy couple, we wish them many years of happiness together and hope to see them once again, only this time to celebrate an anniversary or two.
Who doesn’t love a real love story? We know we go weak at the knees for a little romance and what could be more romantic than hearing about a special couple’s wedding day? Today we’re looking at the nuptials of Lucy and Michael. Lucy and Michael had been together 10 years when they said “I do”. Lucy was just 19 years old, and Michael 21 when they met. In 2017, Michael proposed and Lucy, in her own words, “wasted no time in booking the wedding after waiting so long!” So here’s a little look into their special day, right here at That Amazing Place.
The Venue
Lucy and Michael came to view That Amazing Place and fell in love with its beauty and laid back feel, “You feel welcome and at home the minute you arrive and the whole place is decorated to perfection. It’s a place you just don’t want to leave. I never wanted a venue that made it seem that we were pretending to be anything like a castle etc. I just wanted somewhere where all our friends and family could relax and have an amazing time” and that’s exactly what she got with our Essex wedding venue. Lucy also felt at ease dropping Angie, our wedding coordinator an email whenever she needed to, “she was always so helpful in her responses. Whenever we were at the venue before the wedding or on the day, Paul was so fantastic too. He made us feel so welcome and special. That meant so much to us.”
Theme and Entertainment
As opposed to a theme, the happy couple instead opted for a colour scheme. They enjoyed gold throughout, with accents of pink. Lucy explained, “The guys at That Amazing Place were fantastic on every level with helping me bring my ideas to life. They helped me find retailers who would stock the items I wanted, some items I’d searched a lifetime for. Their list of recommended suppliers online also helped me immensely. I booked my photographer, singer, stationary and chair covers through this list.”
Lucy and Michael were very lucky to have the aunt of their maid of honour create the flowers for their wedding. They opted for whites and pale pinks in the bride’s bouquet and just white for the bridesmaids. Eucalyptus was placed throughout all flowers on the day as Lucy is a huge fan.

For entertainment, the couple had Matty Evans perform magic at the drinks reception who just so happened to go down a storm with the couple’s guests. They also booked Joe Boshell to sing, “who we found through That Amazing Place’s list of recommended suppliers. He was amazing and all my guests loved him. Having him sing our first dance song was so special. His second performance made the whole night, everyone was dancing and singing along.”
Catering
For catering, once again, they dove into That Amazing Place’s list of recommended suppliers and chose the wonderful Magpie Catering. Michael explained, “they were so accommodating to individual guests needs and helped us so much in picking the menu. On the day everyone felt so looked after and the food was so good!”
The Dress
The dress Lucy wore was a Ronald Joyce number from Confetti and Lace. She fell in love with the dress immediately, “When I put on that dress, there was no hesitation. I knew it was the right one. It was everything I’d wanted, straps, low back, fitted in all the right places. Just beautiful.”
Magical Moments
What would a wedding be without those truly magical moments? For Lucy and Michael there were two moments in particular that really stuck out. “When Joe Boshell was singing ‘Hey Jude’ and I looked around to see all of our guests singing together. I just took a second and I was in this perfect place with everyone I loved…” and perhaps for Lucy in particular, a special moment with her father, “My dad was so emotional on the day bless him. He was sobbing on the walk to the aisle and I couldn’t help but laugh.”

Here’s to the wonderful couple. From all of us here at That Amazing Place, we wish you many years of happiness and we hope to see you in the future for anniversary celebrations and more.
