When it comes to choosing a wedding venue, there’s nothing quite like seeing photos of a real wedding to get your juices flowing. Not only does it give you a glimpse into the possibility of what your own big day could look like, but it also gives you the chance to take a few ideas to make your very own too. So, for a little wedding inspiration and to show you just how beautiful our manor house could look on your special day, we thought we’d share a wonderful day with you.
Introducing Anneke and Phil who chose That Amazing Place as the location for their big day. The real icing on the cake was the fact that they brought along their beloved dog Henry to not only enjoy the day with them, but take part in the ceremony itself. He was even on the wedding cake!
Anneke and Phil were one of the very first couples to get married here at what was originally a 15th century monastery. Its subsequent transformation into the elegant, contemporary venue that it is today, no doubt swung their decision when they first came to visit.
The now boutique B&B and exclusive wedding venue offers ceremonies in a choice of stunning rooms, all dependant on the size of your wedding party. In the case of Anneke and Phil, they’d already said their official “I do’s” in a very personal and private ceremony the day before. This meant they were wanting to enjoy a civil ceremony within the beautiful landscaped gardens, more specifically under the large tree. With Phil being a police officer, a police theme became evident with a fabulously vintage police car-come wedding carriage as well as the sound of police sirens in the distance to announce the arrival of the blushing bride. Phil even wore his uniform, freshly dry cleaned and pressed of course while Anneke tied her bouquet with a black and white ribbon. The light-hearted feel of the wedding was continued with the couple’s choice of a photo booth along with props for their guests to enjoy and subsequently upload to a shared wedding app for everyone to see.
Their memories were made even more permanent with the help of a fantastic photographer (Light Source Weddings) who took the wedding couple underneath the weeping willow tree that overhangs a picturesque brook at the bottom of That Amazing Place’s gardens. During the happy couple’s photo shoot, guests were left to enjoy the summer sunshine while Harry, the couples pet dog was lavishing the attention from the guests while they threw his tennis ball back and forth. It was quite simply, a picture of perfect happiness on a truly exquisite day. From here, the cake cutting and first dance then took place, moving into the lounge of course, where guests were free to dance and celebrate until midnight when use of our 12 deluxe bedrooms were then enjoyed.

With wedding open days usually becoming somewhat of a battleground for suppliers, we know only too well it can all get a little overwhelming. Thankfully we’ve changed things up to make it much easier on you by offering you our pick of some of the very best. Being an exclusive wedding venue means our experience and knowledge extends far beyond that of your average wedding venue. Our expertise lies solely within weddings, which means we know all too well what works perfectly and more importantly, what definitely doesn’t. We’ve taken the liberty of selecting the trailblazers in the region that we know will bring you the true luxury extras that every wedding, taking place in our beautiful location, deserves.
Our wedding open day, taking place on Sunday 17th April, is going to be the ultimate showcase of just how your special day could look and it all starts with a glass of bubbly of course. On arrival, guests will be treated to a glass of fizz as well as delicious canapés because let’s face it, who can shop on an empty stomach? All brides attending our open day will also receive a goody bag containing leaflets and offers from our preferred suppliers and much more.
Not only will you get to explore the setting for what’s set to be one of the most important days of your life, but you’ll also get to take a peek at the finest selection of companies ready and waiting to make your day truly special and unique.
First up we have Premier Crew Hospitality. This professional full service catering company will be supplying you with the delicious canapés on arrival to give you a taste of what to expect on your big day. Established since 2003, these guys are true professionals in what they do and will not fail to wow your guests, or you for that matter. You’ll also get to see the Lakeview Lounge set as it would be for a ceremony as well as the hall set ready for what could be your wedding breakfast courtesy of Chair Covers for Celebrations.
We’ll are excited to show off the expertise of Fifi’s Cakery, an Essex based bakery that produces completely bespoke, handmade artisan wedding cakes and is, in our humble opinion, the one of the best in the county. We’ll also have a very well known local florist here for you to view, in the form of Gracie Day Flowers. Gracie Day Flowers can produce absolutely anything your heart desire, completely bespoke to your needs and requirements. Their ability to go above and beyond for their brides and grooms is perhaps why they aren’t just good, but why they’re award winningly good: Gracie Day Flowers were the winners of the 2013 Essex Wedding Awards.
To round off the day, music will be provided by Piano DJ, whom offer some of the finest pianists in the country, while Christopher Whitelock and the White Doves Experience will be offering that magical finishing touch.

We’ve worked tirelessly to provide a luxury service to each and every person that crosses our threshold and although we don’t do it for anything other than a smile on our clients faces, every once in a while, a little recognition tells us we’re doing a good job. Last week was one such “moment” when we were, quite simply, blown away to receive the news that we had been honoured with the Stellar Stays Award in conjunction with HotelsCombined.
The Stellar Stays Award has been given to us to celebrate the quality and consistency within our work and we couldn’t be more pleased. Our hotel has been selected to represent the top 3% within the whole of the United Kingdom, thanks to our great customer satisfaction. What’s more, the results of this hugely prestigious award come after much deliberation and quality analysis of your reviews. As part of the selection process, hotel reviews and customer opinions from all major booking websites are considered. Even our social media is monitored to take into account customer comments and responses. As a result of this deep, quality analysis, 392 hotels in Essex were considered and we were rather wonderfully given 6th place amongst them all.
The Stellar Stays Award representative told us that as a result of 295 impressive reviews, this gave us an outstanding overall score of 9.67/10 and it was down to this fantastic score that they were able to, beyond any doubts, select and award us such as prestigious honour.
So what does this mean exactly? Well, being awarded the prestigious Stellar Stays Award means we’ve received better reviews than 97% of all other hotels worldwide. That’s huge and most certainly an achievement to be proud of, especially when it comes from a world leading hotel meta-search website such as HotelsCombined. Based in Australia, Sydney to be precise, they’re used by over 300 million travellers each and every year. They’re so wide in their searches, they’ve now partnered with thousands of sites including the well known booking.com, Expedia and even Agoda, while on their mission to become the one stop hotel search engine for travellers all around the world. With this in mind, our award and placement of 6th in Essex is even more astounding and quite simply breathtaking.
