Adele & Douglas’ big day at That Amazing Place, Wedding Venue, Essex.
That Amazing Place are pleased to be able to share another story of a perfect wedding day.
Today it’s the turn of Adele and Douglas, who have been together for 4 and a half years and met over drinks.
The Venue
For these newlyweds there was never another venue in the running.
Adele says “When we first started dating, we often walked past That Amazing Place on a Sunday, and always thought it looked beautiful. When the venue held its first wedding open day, we passed by and said then it would be a lovely place to get married.” When they set their wedding date, it was the only venue they considered and hoped that the inside was as stunning as the outside. They weren’t disappointed, “We knew it was perfect for us and speaking with Hannah and Paul confirmed this. The size of the venue, the decor, the rooms, the grounds – it really is amazing! Plus everyone at the venue are so accommodating.”
Our dog friendly policy was also a big pull for this couple and made the wedding all the more special. Their cheeky canine friend just couldn’t help himself getting up to mischief, not only eating all of the best man’s canapes, but also breaking free from the bridesmaids to chase a duck! This resulted in an impromptu swim across the lake and early exit from the wedding.
Theme and entertainment
Whilst Adele and Douglas didn’t have a theme, they really wanted a relaxed and fun wedding. As Douglas is from Scotland, the rooms on site were perfect for family who travelled for the wedding.
The grounds and countryside surroundings made for some stunning photos from photographer Scott Miller, who captured lots of special moments to provide a beautiful lasting record of the day.
In the evening, our newlyweds choose a band called “The Beavers” to get everyone up out of their seats and partying the night away.
Adele said “Paul and Angie really helped as the band came with a lot of equipment, but nothing was too much trouble and they had lots of ideas on how we could make it work. The evening was so much fun, we didn’t stop dancing all night.”
Catering
Adele and Douglas opted for our twilight package and whilst they didn’t have a traditional wedding breakfast, this buffet option allowed for a sit-down meal in our picturesque hall.
As Douglas and several of his friends are chefs, it was important that the food was of an excellent standard. We are pleased to report that our recommended supplier, Premier Crew, didn’t let them down.
Adele said “Sarah helped us so much with quantities and suggestions. We had so many comments on how good the food and service were.”
Flowers
The flowers were provided by Jo at Browns Blooms and Balloons and they were beautiful! Adele asked Jo to supply the flowers after seeing her arrangements at our open day in May.
Our bride and groom gave Jo a very loose brief of small vases, pink flowers and thistles and were really pleased with the results.
Adele said “It was great as she knew the venue inside out, so could immediately tell me how many small vases I would need to alternate with candles, and had ideas of how the flowers could be moved around during the day.”7
Dress
We think you’ll agree our beautiful bride looked stunning in her dress from Ritva Westinius.
As Adele is very petite, she sometimes struggles to find clothes that are a perfect fit, so to have something bespoke felt really special.
She said “It was so comfortable and practical, as well as being stunning! I especially loved how it transformed from daytime to evening, with the removable lace jacket and ingenious way the train hooked up to make it in to a strapless evening dress.”
Special Moments
Adele and Douglas both had an amazing, perfect day and agree there is nothing they would change about it.
They both found dancing on stage with the band using blow up guitars as a particularly memorable moment. However, for Adele, one of the loveliest and most romantic moments was when her new husband declared it to be the best night of his life!
Adele said “Neither of us could stop smiling, we both just had so much fun, with all our closest friends and family in such a beautiful location. Angie and her team worked so hard to make the day perfect, everything worked seamlessly behind the scenes and the day ran like clockwork. Paul was the perfect host, so much fun and made sure that everyone was having a really good time. We are so thankful that Paul and Jayne open up their beautiful home to weddings, it is all so personal and nothing is too much trouble.”
We are so pleased to have helped this lovely couple realise their dream of a fun, relaxed wedding day. At That Amazing Place we love to see people enjoying their celebrations so much and feel proud to have been able to make it happen. We wish Adele and Doug lots more fun, luck and love in a long and happy marriage.
